Mindfulness means inner awareness but the word mindfulness is more closely associated as a meditation technique within Buddhism than coaching. When used as a form of meditation, Buddhist monks focus attention on their steps as they walk, their food as they chew and their breath as well as chanting mantras. Since Buddhism is a philosophy rather than a religion it is easy to incorporate the techniques into everyday life.

Benefits of Mindfulness

When used in everyday life mindfulness is an effective stress buster.

Very effective relaxation technique good to use when moving from work to home life.

It can assist in removing the excessive chatter that goes on inside ones head.

Changing negative thoughts into positive thoughts.

When practiced it can assist with focusing on a single task.

If practiced well practitioners can experience transcendence.

It is particularly useful during these times of over stimulation with electrical devices and economic uncertainty.

Some simple mindfulness Self coaching Exercises.

How to add mindful inner awareness to your day. Try practicing for 20 minutes twice a day. It is important to remove all other interruptions for the period you choose to be mindful. For your body to be truly mindful it is beneficial to practice prior to eating a meal rather than just after.

Raise your awareness of a positive topic or assignment and focus only on topic.

Sit with your eyes closed and hum like a bee taking a breath through the nose when necessary or repeat a sound in your head which resonates positively with you. Om is a commonly used mantra in meditation.

Sit with your eyes closed and concentrate on your breath. breath in for the count of 10 and out for the count of 1o. It is important that when you take your breaths you are not only filling your chest but your stomach is rising and falling with each breath.

When cooking be mindful of what you are doing focus on the ingredients and cook with love and nutrition in mind.

In coaching

Experienced practitioners can offer guided meditations which can assist people with using mindfulness in everyday life.

Clean coaching techniques use a focusing technique which allows you to zone in on a topic or area you want to improve allowing you to tap into your inner knowing and intuition and discover new ways to approach situations.

Try a new perspective coaching session for the promotion of inner awareness.

Those around you are also connected to the issue and have a stake in your decisions and the outcome. In this type of situation finding a new perspective through coaching is the optimal choice.

These are individual 1 1/2 to 2 hours sessions scheduled when required.

Do any of these apply to you?

Are you at an unwelcome cross-roads in your career, life, work or relationship?

Developed by New Zealand Psychologist and Psychotherapist David Grove. These tools are non-directive, meaning that the coachee finds the answers for themselves.

‘Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.’ Carl Jung

Clean was developed by New Zealand Psychologist and Psychotherapist David Grove. These tools are non-directive, meaning that the coachee finds the answers for themselves.

Emergent Knowledge

By using iterative and repetitive questions new insights can emerge in relation to the point of inquiry which is usually a goal, objective or a problem.

Clean language

Can be used during any coaching session to reduce directive influence on you the coachee, allowing you to find your own solutions.

Clean space

Some of the clean tools used will encourage movement. By moving yourself or your point of inquiry to different spaces. You can gain a different perspective.

The benefit of clean methods

This particular method of coaching can reduce the number of sessions required considerably, to reach your goal, objective or solution to your problem.it is even possible that only one session is required to solve something which has plagued you for many years.

The clean method removes completely the influence of the coach entirely.

Life is about balance and to experience any extreme, no matter how good that extreme may be, can and will be detrimental to your happiness. If you have ever played the board game Rich Dad poor Dad or even been rich, you will understand that with money happiness does not follow. This realisation is an important step to attaining happiness.

In a time when the economy is in turmoil and many have taken great risk and lost so much perhaps bringing more balance to ones life will become the bonus of what may seem like dark times.

If you live outside your means you will never be happy. Make your life balanced ensure that you keep challenge in your life. If you surround yourself with everything you can never aspire to new highs. As we have seen all of that can disappear with a blink of an eye.

The true secret to happiness is to live a simple and wholesome life. Which as the buddha suggested has no ego and does no harm to others.

An exercise that is often done early in a coaching relationship is to discover what core values motivate the coachee.

Values Inventory

When your coaching session is goal orientated meaning you have an objective that you want to work towards. It is important to understand your values and then in turn your strengths. When your goal is inline with your values and draws on your personal strengths, your life has meaning and purpose and you are more likely to be motivated to achieve your goal and as a consequence of meeting your goal you are more likely to experience intense happiness.
